About

Three pubs close their doors for good every single day, due to the financial pressures they’re facing. Yet every year, the government sets out to increase beer duty in line with inflation, a tax that impacts pubs disproportionately.

Since 2018, we have run the Long Live The Local campaign, calling on the public to sign a petition to cut beer duty and email their MP, to help us save the great British pub. From staging protests outside Parliament to awarding traditional community pubs with their own Blue Plaque to demonstrate their heritage and cultural significance, we find creative ways to demonstrate that the British pub is an institution, one we cannot afford to lose.
